Model-based Testing in Agile Software Development
نویسنده
چکیده
With rising ubiquity of software, its quality is becoming more and more important, but harder to achieve. Model-based testing (MBT) and agile development (AD) are the two major approaches to solve this dilemma. We analyze their operational conditions and investigate how MBT can improve AD and vice versa. We conclude that strongly integrating both is the most fruitful combination. The two key requirements on MBT for AD are flexibility and rapid delivery. They can be met by underspecifying the models that MBT uses. But for current MBT techniques, underspecification has an adverse effect on efficiency, coverage and reproducibility. We believe all three aspects will be improved by a new method called lazy on-the-fly MBT, which we currently research.

Adapting model-based testing to agile context
This study concentrates on model-based testing in agile software developing context. Model-based testing is a software testing technique in which tests are generated from a model. Test can be executed separately later or in motion during the generation. Special focus is placed on examining the adaptability of model-based testing to agile software developing context. The purposes of this study w...
متن کامل(invited Talk) Agility vs. Model-based Testing: a Fair Play?
Agile manifesto defines principles for a light-weight software development process aiming at an improved customer satisfaction. Automated testing plays an important role in fulfilling these principles, because it enables efficient execution of test scripts for checking the quality of delivered software. However, the implementation and the maintenance of the test scripts can be very tedious and ...
متن کاملIncreasing Understanding of the Modern Testing Perspective in Software Product Development Projects
Testing can be difficult to integrate into software development. Approaches to software testing in relation to implementing software are based on the V-model of testing. The software process behind the V-model is the traditional waterfall model, and as such the traditional testing approaches cannot take iterative, incremental and agile approaches to developing software into account
متن کاملImproved Underspecification for Model-based Testing in Agile Development
Since model-based testing (MBT) and agile development are two major approaches to increase the quality of software, this paper considers their combination. After motivating that strongly integrating both is the most fruitful, the demands on MBT for this integration are investigated: The model must be underspecifyable and iteratively refineable and test generation must efficiently handle this. T...
متن کاملPossibilities about the design lean canvas model and its adaptation in the agile testing
Software development industry is inventing new development methodologies in last 10 years for improving the existing developing tools, process and delivering a high-quality software to end customer in short time. In recent year's waterfall development becomes less attractive in the software industry and shifted its attention towards the new software development methodologies such as agile. Agil...
